LOCATION:  Archives and History Division, 5800 Jonesboro Road, Morrow,
Georgia 30260

 

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   Under general supervision, the Records
Management Analyst 1, performs work of moderate difficulty providing
assistance to state agencies in managing public records and information.
Provides assistance in conducting records and information management
surveys, producing publication or instructional materials.  Writes and
reviews record retention schedules, and prepares weekly and quarterly
reports.

 

Analyze the records of state government agencies.  Recommends retention
periods with particular attention to their administrative, fiscal and
legal values.  Evaluates records for acquisition and preservation.  

 

Develop and implement an active training and educational program for
state and local government.  Document work with state and local
governments through the creation of correspondence and memoranda.
Develop new training sessions on records management topics.  Provide
consultative site visits to state or local agencies each week.

 

Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Records Act; Open
Records Act; state and federal laws and regulations basic to records
management; and, RIMS policies and procedures.  Participate in
technology projects to increase access to archives holdings.  Assist in
the computerization of the Records Center and RIMS projects.  Monitor
and respond to phone messages, email and other communications from
customer's daily.      

    

Creates and maintains a high performance environment.  Maintains a
consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting
business and providing services or products to clients, the general
public and other external customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an undergraduate degree in records
management, business or a related field and two years experience in a
records keeping setting at an administrative or records clerk level OR a
high school diploma (or equivalent) with five years experience at an
administrative or records clerk level. Computer experience, including
electronic mail system, word processing, database management,
spreadsheet and presentation software. Experience in providing training
sessions and use of Power Point.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Five years of experience in a public records
keeping setting with appraisal and retention schedule development
experience.
