ISO9001 applies mainly to quality assurance records and is a universal
standard in that it has become mandatory in establishing an organization's
compliance with provisions for the maintenance, housing and protection of quality
assurance records. No specific retention periods are specified, mainly required
maintenance provisions. ISO15489 applies to records management in general.
What constitutes a good program, organizational requirements , and operating
practices for records management in general. It remains a voluntary standards
and a general recommendation for good business practices.
