That sounds fantastical.  Is it truth or fiction?"

Yes, but New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live 
in.  I would imagine that a half decent house in the inner city would be 
well over a million bucks  In mid-USA it could be the equivalent salary of 
$80 - 100K.
