Documenting Your Public Service -

2000 Web Edition of Documenting Your Public Service, National Archives and
Records Administration Management Guide Series, College Park, MD (2000), 14
pp.

http://www.archives.gov/records-mgmt/publications/documenting-your-public-se
rvice.html#preface

From the introduction.

"The purpose of this guide is to provide you and other high-level Government
officials with basic information to enable you to distinguish Federal
records from other documentary materials, including personal files."

I will note that in this cases most the records that are target of this
discussion may not fall under the guidance if this publication, but are
governed by the Presidential Records Act
http://www.archives.gov/about/laws/presidential-records.html, or regulations
promulgated to carry out the PRA
http://www.archives.gov/about/regulations/part-1270.html. That said the
aforementioned publication is still good guidance to start with.

Well, hopefully this exchange won't start another "RIM Range War", and

obviously, that wasn't the intent of providing the original link.

None the less, in response to Steve's ovbservations about Lisa's post, I'm

not entoirely convinced her comments weren't directed at his inability to

properly keep records. It could be interpreted that the comments were

intended to indicate that had Gonzalez done a better job of keeping records

on the decisions he made or his earlier comments, (which given his postion

are likely Federal records), that he MAY HAVE BEEN ABLE to "recall or

remember" the facts he was being asked to testify to.

=) But I digress....
