all well and good but the phrase "walk the walk" still makes no sense
in my simple-headed mind

try the following which I had sent to another person

""to act in a way that shows people you are really good at what you
do, and not just good at talking about it.""

lets look at it this way. if an individual is very good at teaching
about something, but they haven't every done it then one would say
that they can "talk the walk, but they've never walked that talk"

walk the talk to act on what you profess to believe in or value
http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/Talk.html

"Walking the talk" means your actions match your words. You make
promises and commitments and honor them.

Coaching, by definition, calls on coaches to walk the talk; that is,
to model integrity in business protocol, personal development and
professional communications.

How to walk the talk
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3616/is_199606/ai_n8753083/pg_2

"In the last few years most companies have recognized the importance
of documenting their values. Some have gone to great lengths in
detailing what would be ideal behavior but it is still the rare
company who has leaders who actually walk the talk."

Consistency is crucial. It means that day-in and day-out, the people
you lead know you will get down off the wagon when necessary. Or put
another way "you will walk the talk"

the above were all found digging through this Google search
