Hi Ginny, 

That's certainly what I think of when I hear data mapping. However, I think
its use here describes the identification of what data is present within the
organization and its physical and/or logical locations. I have heard it used
in that context for FRCP, e.g. creating data maps as part of meet-and-confer
requirements.
