Dear All,
Here's a bit more detail to clarify the Content Strategy Task Force posting on
the ARMA website.

What will the task force do? The volunteers will (1) help identify current and
future educational needs for RIM professionals, (2) identify RIM-related issues
and needs in the business community, (3) identify sources of new expertise
that we can draw on to help RIM professionals, and (4) help analyze gaps
between educational needs and the current offerings from ARMA. The task
force will work in conjunction with ARMA staff so that new publications,
standards and education programming reflect the needs that the task force
identifies. Volunteers will do some research, some analysis and make
recommendations. As the task force makes its content recommendations, the
current processes for developing books, standards, conference programming
and education will take over. The key thing to keep in mind is that this task
force is not developing products like some of the past committees have done.
The task force is helping ARMA *identify the areas which need to be
addressed.*

Time commitment/Meetings: Though the task force is chartered for 3 years,
we expect to review the membership on an annual basis. This will allow us to
bring new people onto the task force as trends in the business environment
change. We could also re-appoint some individuals if their expertise continues
to be relevant and they remain available.

We *might* have a face-to-face meeting of task force members who are
already attending the annual ARMA conference. But, we don’t expect to ask
for any separate travel commitments. We will use email, hold meetings via
conference calls, and use ARMA’s collaboration site for other work. I am not
sure how frequently we will hold virtual meetings – probably more often at the
beginning as we are putting our work agenda into place; and less frequently
over time.

We don’t have a set number of people – there are, however, a number of
subject areas we are eager to have represented on the task force. If one
person has multiple areas of expertise, that’s great. I sort of expect we will
have 8-10 volunteers on the task force, but we don’t know for sure at this
point.

I hope this helps – I am encouraged that a number of individuals have
expressed interest already!

Best regards,
Diane
