No clear answers given, but a definite recognition of the need for more to
be done.

One is an excellent overview of the challenges the Federal Government is
having wrapping it’s arms around the management of electronic format
information, and how many of the problems are as much cultural as they are
technological. There seems to be insufficient support and/or recognition of
the importance of Records Management and the role it plays in potentially
reducing risks by establishing consistent methodologies for managing
information. The report casts a real dim light on how e-mail is being
handled, but it also acknowledges the volume itself is staggering, none the
less, something NEEDS to be done.

The other may be of less value to some folks in RM, but will definitely be
of interest to those with roles in IT. This one deals with Cybersecurity,
and the need for continued attention to protecting Federal information
systems. Given the desire expressed over the past few months by many
Federal Agencies to look into some aspect or another of “cloud computing”,
there is increased concern for ensuring adequate protections are built into
private (internal Agency/cross Agency) clouds and definitely concern about
any quasi-public or public clouds.
