Hello,

I have a request from an internal client about regulations/standards
regarding the conversion of a record from one electronic file type to
another electronic file type (e.g. large JPEG to PDF/A with embedded
JPEG2000 images).

I see this as similar to LAC's process of normalizing digital content as
described in the File Format Guidelines for Preservation and Long-Term
Access<http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/digital-initiatives/012018-2200-e.html>
-
just at an earlier stage of the record's lifecycle. I am also assuming that
the principles regarding regular processes controlled by policies,
procedures, quality assurance and auditing found in CAN/CGSB 72.11-93 can be
applied in this situation even though it is a digital to digital conversion
as opposed to an analog to digital conversion.

Can anyone think of any other significant regulations (Canada/Ontario) that
I should be aware of for this type of conversion process in a content
management system?

Thanks in advance,

Bruce Smith
