"Gary does make a point that I wondered about - what does a hacker hope to accomplish by hacking LinkedIn? Does anyone have bank information or social security numbers on their profile? Maybe home address? I don't have any of that on mine. If someone feels the urge, though, they are more than welcome to tweak my profile."

I think the end result of such a large hack is to find a way to hack something else down the road. There is a tendency for us to use the same password for different accounts so I can only guess whomever is tearing these passwords apart is hoping to down the raod come across your name and login ID for something else and then hack that. This could include Facebook or more likely Amazon or your bank, all of which clearly contain far more sensitive and damaging information than Linkedin all by itself.

Thanks, Steve
