I wrote a post earlier this week titled, Where the Information Governance
Maturity Model Falls Short. In it I pointed out that the IGMM, based on the
Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles, measures progress primarily on
records management practices rather than broader IG practices. 

So I wanted to follow up and get the ball rolling and show how the IGMM
could stay intact yet be extended to include broader IG tenets. I can get it
about 80% there in this short post.

My proposal would be to create an “IGMM-E” (extended) and link extensions to
maturity models in core IG functions named in the IG Reference Model,
including RIM, privacy, legal, IT, and information security.
