Sharon,

I doubt you'll find many sexy RM jobs. But I know of many (including
my current position) which are challenging, rewarding and fun with
great benefits. And many of these are in the private sector.

One website to look at is the ICRM Career Opportunities page -
http://www.icrm.org/career-opportunities/. All of the positions
posted either prefer or require a Certified Records Manager (CRM) but
would give the students an idea of what is available. Another option
is to use some of the job boards such as Indeed, Monster, Ladders,
etc. Indeed, for example, allows you to to create job alerts and
sends you on a daily or weekly basis postings that meet your search
criteria. LinkedIn occasionally posts RM related records management
opportunities. I also know of a couple of recruiters that specialize
in records management.

These are just a few. The best advice I would give to students is to
be flexible - you may not find what you are looking for where you want
to live. Get some experience behind your belt and opportunities will
appear.

Good luck.

She suggested we do a bulletin board of jobs that SLIS students can apply for that are not of the usual academic/special libraries, archives, and government entities. She is interested in pointing out to students that there are other ways to work in the Information Field - aka corporate entities, both for- and non-profit, utilities, etc. that may be more challenging, offer more pay or better utilize their skills.

Plus, I am just one person trying to wade through tons of information....so my thought was to turn to the experts - the listserv. I thought maybe our collective brains could come up with some interesting job descriptions and/or openings that I can use to create an old school bulletin board.
