Document level retention is practical if one can apply it systematically
based on a standard, consistently used classification system - thatıs true
whether the records are electronic or in other formats. However, the same
can be said about matter level retention. If someone misfiles a document,
the correct retention may not be applied to it.
Ultimately, organization have to rely on the rules they have established
to organize information - and how well those rules are understood and
applied by employees, partners, etc. The resources needed to review
individual documents prior to disposal will always exceed what an
organization is willing to spend on the review process.
Just one womanıs opinion.
