Yes, that is correct.  The next time you buy a National Fire Protection Association NFPA 232 Protection of Records Stand for your Reference Library you will see that the mention of the Electronic Records is not inclusive in the Standard.

What is unique is that there is now linkage between NFPA 75 Standard for the Fire Protection of Information Technology Equipment where they ask the records management community to provide some guidance about the requirements of protecting electronic records and especially defining what constitutes an “Electronic Record.” 

This is a recognition that that the Courts have now mandated special requirements for protecting electronic records. This caused the NFPA 75 Committee to ask for guidance and modified definitions. From genesis to long term storage; to a failure of spoliation of the electronic records; the IT Management now recognizes that the server room, the electronic equipment and other machine readable data are now something that must be considered as having records content.  This is a bold step as previously they considered what they did in the Data Center as of no consideration in Information Governance.
