"Rising from the Ashes: Building a Records Management Program in King County"

This program will discuss how to develop a records management program stakeholders 
group using the King County Records Management Program as a case study. The 
presentaion will cover such topics as identifying key stakeholders within your 
organization, engaging leadership, building supportive relationships with customers, and 
strategies for managing those who are less interested. The speakers will also share 
examples of successes and lessons learned.  

About the Speakers:  
Gail Snow began her records management career in 1989 as a contract records manager 
for the Environmental Protection Agency. She joined King County as the County Records 
and Information Manager in 2012.  Gail’s work at King County includes oversight and long 
term strategic planning for the RIM program. She is also responsible for developing 
retention schedules, file plans, and training. Gail holds a BA in Political Science  from 
Colorado State University and a master’s degree in Library Science from Emporia State 
University.   

Ryan Wadleigh is the vice president of the ARMA Bellevue Eastside chapter and is also a 
Records Management Specialist with King County, where he has worked since 2006.  A 
passion for history originally brought him to the field of archives, which soon morphed 
into an interest in records management. He has a master’s degree in Archives and 
Records Administration from San Jose State University. Ryan joined the County Records 
Management Program in 2013.  Ryan’s work at King County includes retention schedule 
development, policy development, providing training to county employees, 
troubleshooting records issues, helping to manage the county’s ERMS, and many other 
records‐related duties.
