Question is from William Blackstone' s famous quote that it is better that ten guilty men go free before one innocent man is imprisoned.   I'm with Blackstone.   And I bet you would be too if you were the innocent man.

</div>Brian, it is a tough question to answer if you're not given variables, like type of crime, how many prior or other info.  Being asked the way it was asked there were no questions allowed it was either choice 1 or choice 2.  While I don't like guilty people running on the streets I also don't like seeing innocent people in jail.  Just logically thinking if an innocent person goes to jail that also means a guilty person is on the street anyways. 

Mary, you brought a great tie in to the question what is worse and that is difficult to decide. It would be interesting to put together a risk analysis on that from a purely financial basis.  If anyone has done that or wants to tackle it let me know I would be willing to work on that.
