As seen in the Tacoma News Tribune - "Tacoma innovators bring skills to
state medical marijuana registry" (20 Feb. 2016)
http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/business/article60723681.html
"In November of 2012 the voters of the State of Washington approved an
Initiative 502 to legalize growing and selling marijuana for recreational use.
The state Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) was given the job of managing the
expected onslaught of applications of wannabe cannabis tycoons. WSLCB
had to have a system for accepting and managing applications that could
be implemented quickly with minimal risk.
In April of 2015 Governor Jay Inslee signed Senate Bill 5052 Cannabis
Patient Protection Act. The legislation establishes a completely voluntary
Medical Marijuana Authorization Database. Privacy will be ensured at the
highest possible level, and the database does not in any way violate HIPPA.
In this presentation Shardrach White from cloudPWR will discuss how the
State of Washington is using cloud software for this new industry."
