TOPIC:  "Current Data Breaches and Their Lessons for RIM". Presented by Mary Ellen Callahan, JD, CPP and Mary Sherwin, CRM, CIPP/US.
High-profile data breaches are repeatedly making news. Within the past year, for instance, the Sony and Anthem attacks have reverberated throughout society. This session provides an up-to-date look at the C-suite's perspective on safeguarding information, and it looks at proposed legislation for cybersecurity, including a consumer privacy Bill of Rights. You'll learn what's being done in Washington and in other organizations to combat data breaches and protect information.

SPEAKERS:
Mary Ellen Callahan, Chair of Jenner & Block's Privacy and Information Governance Practice, has unique and broad experience advising clients at the interface of privacy protection with cybersecurity and national security. A nationally recognized privacy attorney, she served as Chief Privacy Officer of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from March 2009 until August 2012. She is a prolific writer and speaker on cutting-edge commercial privacy issues. In October 2013, Mary Ellen received the Privacy Vanguard Award, given by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, an annual award honoring the privacy professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, knowledge and creativity in privacy and data protection.

Mary W. Sherwin, CRM, IGP, CIPP/US, is the Director of Records Management, CBS Corporate Law Department. Mary has over twenty five years of experience, with expertise that covers the fields of Records and Information Management, Information Systems and Privacy, e-Discovery, electronic and physical records management, records retention policy development, implementation and training; document management systems, the development of document scanning and workflow systems, information technology, SharePoint development and administration. Mary's experience extends into all phases of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including project management, analysis, development and implementation. Mary is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP). Mary serves as the Executive Vice President of the ARMA Metro NYC Chapter.
