The University of Louisville Archives and Special Collections (ASC) library
seeks a creative and forward-thinking archivist for the position of
Archivist for Records Management. This individual will be responsible for
the administration of the University records management program, including
the disposition of non-permanent records, as well as the description and
preservation of permanent University records in all formats. The Archivist
for Records Management will play a significant role in the development and
implementation of ASC’s electronic records policies and procedures and will
bring fresh thinking to other aspects of the University’s records
management program. This position reports to the University
Archivist/Director of ASC, and joins a collegial community of faculty and

This is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track or term position with an
anticipated initial rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor; entry rank
and salary of the successful candidate are made at the discretion of the
Dean of University Libraries and are dependent on experience and
qualifications.



Responsibilities include:

* Plan, manage, and administer the university records management program in
compliance with state and federal regulations.

* Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, and faculty regarding
state retention and disposition schedules.

* With the University Archivist, develop and implement policies and
procedures for the collection and preservation of permanent university
records in electronic formats.

* Conduct outreach: meet proactively with staff, administrators, and
faculty and create and maintain records management training materials.

* Organize and preserve permanent university records; create reference
tools to enhance access to these materials.

* Create and maintain records in ArchivesSpace to provide access to and
physical control of permanent and non-permanent records.

* Responsible for organization of off-site warehouse space housing
non-permanent university records, including the pulling, filing, and
shelving of boxes.

* Provide reference services for collections in all Archives and Special
Collections units and participate in instruction and outreach activities.

* Represent the University of Louisville on state-level committees,
including the University Archives and Records Committee.



Required Qualifications:

* Master’s degree in archives administration, library/information science,
history, or other relevant field from an accredited program.

* Knowledge of records management concepts.

* Knowledge of electronic records management and digital preservation
issues.

* Strong commitment to public service and proven ability to work
effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, student, and
community members.

* Demonstrated evidence of initiative and flexibility with planning and
problem-solving.

* Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively
as both a team member and independently.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats to
diverse audiences.

* Ability to lift 40 pounds.

* For consideration for tenure-track status: Demonstrated potential for
meeting the university libraries faculty promotion and tenure requirements.



Desirable Qualifications:

* Experience working in an active university records program.

* Experience working with electronic records.

* Experience with ArchivesSpace, Archivists’ Toolkit, or other archival
management systems.

* Experience in a higher education environment.

* Certified Records Manager (CRM) certification.
