When I was managing contracts for another Organization in an SAP Contract
Mgmt System, the later termination date trumps all. The MSA's termination
date trumped the SOW's if the SOW's term date was earlier. In some cases,
the SOW had a later term date, and you could not terminate the MSA unless
the SOW was also terminated. The MSA term date was then updated to reflect
the actual termination of the contract as a whole and then the +10 year
retention applied.

The SOWs are physically interfiled with the MSAs, so they all needed to
have the same master retention date.

The electronic hierarchical structure in this system looked like this, with
the trump expiration date in bold.

*MSA 1 -- exp 1/1/2017*

SOW 1 -- exp 12/3/2016

MSA 2 -- exp 1/1/2017

SOW 1 -- exp 2/2/2017

*SOW 2 -- exp 3/3/2017*

*MSA 2 expiration date updated to 3/3/2017 for retention trigger
