Another option, depending on funding, is to either hire an outside counsel to do the research (pull from their database of regulations/laws) the retention requirements, or to subscribe to a service that would provide you access to such information.  Again, before considering such an expenditure you would need to see if it would provide you any return on the investment (e.g. provide you time to do other tasks vs. being tied up in research).
