to hold to policy and professional
standards if you were asked to bend or break rules (either out of intent,
ignorance, or even as part of formal changes to policy). How would you
document your position?
" has nothing to do with the change of our government administration.
However, I hope it is not "
business-as-usual
" and that there will improvements in following the "rule of law".
So the answer to your question has noting to do with government, but rather
how a Records and Information Manager should act if they believe the law is
being broken/bent. I would document my concerns in writing and forward to
the appropriate official. If you believe that the organization continues
to operate in an illegal manner then I believe you have to make decision -
do you continue to work with an organization that behaves outside the known
law or do you resign and find a more responsible employer?
That should not be a difficult decision.
