Agree - nice piece George. I think the distinction between not knowing and no
not wanting to know is a significant one. 

I also hope that some repository somewhere, however, is collecting fake ne
news. I've always thought it important that as a culture we document si
significant forms of pop culture, which is not always based in truth but se
serves to tell something about society at the time. 

For years I worked in a sales, marketing, and advertising archive (Duke 
University, Hartman Ctr) that collected both agency business records as well
well as the advertising output. And we all know how much advertising can dist
distort reality in an effort to manipulate consumer behavior. 

Anyway, I hope someone will make the effort to collect samples of all this fa
fake news in order to support the larger initiative of cultural do
documentation. Maybe there are even records manager and archivists on th
the staff of these publishers.
