How to Develop an Information Governance Policy and Retention Schedule

Session #1 – Building an Information Governance Policy You Can Enforce

This session focuses on how to write an Information Governance policy that
provides the best practices for managing the organization’s information
assets. But Wait! Having a policy isn’t enough, what other documents will
you need to enable employees to comply and understand what they are expected
to do. This session will address the policy components as well as the other
documents and activities needed to launch or enact the new policy and allow
employees to comply.

Session #2 – Retention Schedule or Classification Plan – Why Not Both?

How have you been using your Retention Schedule? Does your Retention
Schedule only apply to paper, can you make it apply to electronic
information? The second session will be focused on detailing the structure
and information so that the Retention Schedule / Classification Plan can
continue to be applied to paper documents by the document owner, but also
used by IT groups to apply the requirements through appropriate processes
and approvals to electronic information.
