JOB DESCRIPTION:
Are you passionate about making government records available to the public?
Do you enjoy collaborating with people to find results that benefit you
both? This position as the coordinator of the Open Records Portal as an
Archivist might be for you!

The Open Records Portal is a central website which the public can use to
access public governmental records and make records requests online. You can
visit it here.

Principal Duties
As the Open Records Portal Archivist you will:

    Work with the Utah Transparency Board to prioritize records to be posted
online.
    Collaborate with Archives staff and state records officers to compile
and post records online.
    Monitor and track incoming Government Records Access and Management Act
(GRAMA) requests.
    Provide technical assistance to portal users.
    Manage the functionality of the portal.
    Make recommendations for system improvements.

 
The Best Qualified Candidate
The best qualified candidate for this position will have:

    A master's degree in one of the following:
        Public Administration
        Communications
        Archives and Records Management
        Library and Information Science

    3 or more years of experience collaborating and negotiating with
customers to mutually beneficial results.
    3 or more years of experience in records management. (Please see the
definition of records management below.)
    3 or more years of experience managing content management systems or
databases.
    Strong communication skills with a variety of audiences.
    A basic understanding of government and the records that document
government functions.

The Agency/Division
The purpose of the State Archives is to assist Utah government agencies in
the efficient management of their records, to preserve those records of
enduring value, and to provide quality access to public information.
 
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

    Records Management refers to the activities required to systemactially
control the creation, distribution, use, maintenance, and disposition of
business and/or governmental records. Managing files in an environment such
as medical office or sales department is not related experience.
    Working Conditions:
        Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately
lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding
trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
    Physical Requirements:
        Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work;
however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items;
driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to
perform the work.
