Hello -
We are currently using a Xerox DocuShare/eCopy combination as a
repository and OCR engine. We have about 250 users, of which only 50
have r/w access. We aren't a big enough business to have a formal ERM
like Documentum or an overall portal like Oracle provides, but we are
moving toward working with digital documents (mostly .pdfs) over paper
documents.
We are migrating all to the cloud, and must stay with DS, but we are
unsure about eCopy as it would need to reside on a server (and we don't
want any physical servers on site).
Do you have any recommendations for OCR software that could sit on
either a dedicated machine (with networked access from individual
machines) or individual machines and automatically pick up any electronic
documents in a watched folder, and then spit the OCRd documents out to a
user-specific folder in DS?
For example, we currently have a network location (call it the P: drive) that
resides on each users machine, and anything put into it is automatically
picked up by eCopy, OCRd, and then deposited into that user's specific
folder in DS.
Ideally, we would keep the P: drive format, and the documents would be
picked up automatically by an OCR engine residing on a dedicated machine
(to free up the users' computer power) and then passed to DS.
I look forward to your help!
Thanks -
