Title: Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint: New Information Governance
Capabilities—Robust or Just Bust

Summary: From virtually the first day that electronic record systems became
available, organizations have been looking for a system with an easy button
that lets them avoid the effort and time involved in developing and
implementing data structures by means of some sort of highly accurate
auto-classification system. They have learned, often at great cost, that
yet, no such system exists. This has had frequent, and often profound,
implications in litigation and discovery, regulatory compliance and other
key business areas, when complex records systems could not deliver the
results needed in some critical situation.

SharePoint is among the latest such systems. Introduced with much fanfare,
it was seen by many as the belated arrival of the long-sought no-effort
system. It turned out to be far from that, but it has evolved over time.
This session will examine the current and likely future state of SharePoint
and consider the implications of them, along with the implications of them,
and user expectations and practice for organizations.
