Kennesaw State University, in Kennesaw, Georgia, is seeking qualified applicants
for an Assistant Records Manager/Archivist in the Department of Museums,
Archives, and Rare Books (MARB).
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position plays a critical role in supporting
the records management program, the KSU Archives and the Bentley Rare Book
Museum.
Minimum starting rate: $15.63/hr
Closing date: January 29, 2018
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience OR a High School diploma and
2 years of college coursework and 6 years of related experience OR High School
diploma and 8 years.
Desired Qualifications:
Prefer degree in history, English, or humanities. 2 years administrative support
experience. Experience working in an archive. Must be proficient with Microsoft
Office applications, especially Excel; basic Web skills. Quick learner. Excellent oral
and written communication; team player; ability to multitask and prioritize; detail-
oriented. Must be professional and enjoy working with a variety of people, face-to-
face, on the phone and through e-mail.
Job Duties:
1. General Administrative Support:
Answer main Archives/Rare Books/ Records Management phone (taking action,
advising or routing callers, or taking messages).
Assisting patrons and guests with registering and advising them of user policies.
Assist with special events.
2. Records Management Support:
Process and document services performed for KSU offices, following standard
records management procedures.
Assist Director of Records and Information Management with special projects and
with activities promoted by the Information Governance Committee.
3. KSU Archives Support:
Assist Outreach Archivist with preparing for class and community presentations and
managing research appointments.
Pick up records for the archives from KSU campus units and the community.
Assist Processing Archivist with data cleanup, data entry, and assisting with
creating accession records in the ArchiveSpace software.
Create file level inventories of collections.
Assist Digital Archivist with special projects.
Assist with collection review and basic preservation activities.
Assist with planning and managing special events.
4. Bentley Rare Book Museum Support:
Assist with rare book collection management projects including basic preservation
tasks (for example, creating Mylar covers), collection cleaning and shelf reading.
Monitor Bentley Museum security cameras as assigned.
Assist with special projects and events.
