FWIW........

With our Wyoming Records Management Unit of the Wyoming State Archives,
we've learned that the "original architectural drawings" (including blue
prints, specifications, etc.) are actually owned by *and* with the creator
- i.e., the Architectural Firm that was commissioned or contracted and paid
to create them. Many of today's architectural firms are already digital
and can (hopefully) furnish a digital copy if asked, or are affiliated with
a firm that can furnish the digital copies (which they may or may not
charge for). Copies of architectural drawings, blue prints and
specifications are just that - copies.

The only snag we've run into is with 'historical architectural drawings',
where the Architectural Firm is no longer in business, and the holdings of
that firm or who/what entity took over the business (if in fact, someone
took over the business), cannot be located, and the copies we have are now
essentially originals. In that case we have a large format scanner and do
our own scanning of those documents as needed.

If you find you are unable to get digital copies from the original
architectural firm, there are multiple companies back east that can help
you with scanning your documents. I'm afraid I do not know much about the
companies that are available in your area, but a call to Jennifer Millett
(912-217-6022) or Terry Sanders (913-217-6018) with ARMA International may
be a great place to start. ARMA Expo at the National Conference in the
fall of each year includes many such vendors that can surely fit your
requirements. But that area is definitely out of my area of expertise.

Best wishes to you in your search.
