I work this out with outside counsel. Sometimes originals are required, but 
usually we can scan the paper and send on cd or dvd depending on the volume. 
If I have to use an outside service for the scanning, I'll have outside 
counsel speak directly to the service provider. They can negotiate any 
special coding or handling. I always ask for a set of media as well.

Oh yes, be sure and keep track of where all your materials came from - the 
who, what, why, when, and where. You and your counsel will need to know.
