Frequently there are large cost savings opportunities that are unlocked throughout the Record Inventory initiative...

...That said, there are certain business capabilities, disciplines, and competencies that need to be fairly mature before these savings can be realized.

For example without risk-controlled and consistent Preservation Management and Retention Management disciplines coupled with an Information Lifecycle Management Business Capability it will be almost impossible to achieve the disposal efficciency necessary to achieve the ROI the Business is looking for....

Tod, you are correct in expounding on the description -- I meant a
Records Management Program Assessment vs. a Records Inventory.  

I feel it is necessary to do both, but am getting some pushback, so I
need to clearly state the difference and why they are both important (or
critical).
