If one is, or going to, or interested in saving their email as msg
files there are useful apps out there that can address some concerns
Mary mentions when using that file format.

I would probably revise a bit if I had time but this is not on my major
list right now.

Although you can save emails as .msg files, one problem I have with that
as a solution is that you can no longer see the date metadata without
opening the email and that can sometimes be an issue.  Likewise the
information about the sender and receiver.  These are reasons why a
"real" solution that allows easier access to that most often used
information as index makes sense....of course, that does require a big
expenditure of $$ and time.
