The Web site Slate recently had an article that expressed this same "why get
rid of anything?" attitude -- in this case in relation to the FBI (
http://www.slate.com/id/2191902/).  Here there was an added feeling that
records destruction is inevitably being done to prevent the embarrasment of
the organization.
