Am I correct in my assumption that what you are speaking of is tying multiple retention authorities  to one record unit/category/series, etc.  For example you might have a record category that is covered by three regulations.  Reg 1 -- 3 years.  Reg 2 -- 5 yrs.  Reg 3 -- 6 months.  You may want to tie all 3 regs to your record category in the event that a regulation changes and you wish to update it in your database.  Is this the case that you are asking about?
