This is not the first time that this woman and company have abused the listserv with a commercial message.
I have always refrained from making such comments in the belief that we should not be using this list to sell our services.
If the rules have changed, I'll be happy to post responses like this also! However, once those flood gates open you will lost the value, and the members, on this listserv.
Just my two cents worth here, but I think this is highly inappropriate.

My first thought is to scan the papers in the boxes and use our simple to use retrieval software, but if you are set on box storage tracking software, could you provide more information:
What are the files and how long do you intend to hold them?(How long by law are you required to keep them) Do you have an IT staff to support the software?
Microfilm could be an option, then the scan on demand option of a Scan Pro 2000 opens up. Another option is to apply bar codes to the boxes.

I manage the records function for a local community college. Can anyone recommend a software for tracking in-house records storage boxes? I am currently using Excel to track the in/out/destruction and management would like to see the process more automated. I have just under 3,000 bankers boxes and do not anticipate a great deal of growth. The soloutions I have found thus far are for large commercial storage facilities and are very expensive. I was asked to use an Access database, however my IT department does not support Access, not to mention I do not posess the knowledge to do this myself. Any info on an out of the box solution would be much appreciated. Thank you.
