Hello Listserv,

First, let me introduce myself. I am a records and information professional who began her career 19 years ago as a records coordinator with a DOE environmental remediation subcontractor in Grand Junction, CO. In 1995 I boldly moved my family to the north country, in Minneapolis, MN, and haven't left!

For 14 years I held increasingly progressive records management positions within a large, privately held food business's law department and then decided to boldly move on, get out of the records management profession, and pursue something else for a change. Question? Does a records professional ever really get out of the profession by any means but death or retirement? Let's just say I wasn't very successful in moving on this time and found myself jumping at the chance to establish a RIM program for a lead battery recycling company in Eagan, MN. (Yep, I am still in Minneapolis).

Now to my question. Does anyone on the list have a background in Lotus Notes or experience getting LN users to adopt a records and information management software (Laserfiche, with retention scheduling, workflow automation, holds, classification, document control and audit trail functionality)? Should I even encourage the move or ???

Just an FYI. I admit to having NO experience or knowledge about Lotus Notes and feel my focus should stay on project planning, GARP alignment, inventorying, and getting acquainted with Laserfiche. The thought of expending additional effort to fully understand Lotus Notes holds no appeal to me. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance for all your comments and advice!!
