The solar poles flip approximately every 11 years, so unless data were affected in 2002 and 1991, then we - and our ones and zeros - probably are safe.

OK so reading a book on solar flares and a thought came to my mind. What happens to electronic data when the North and South Poles reverse. It could happen should we just stick with paper?
