Note to anyone who believes this:

WAKE THE HELL UP....

They've BOTH been withering for over a decade and there's "no there there"
anymore.

The offerings are being diluted further and further at Conferences, the
industry specific professional gatherings are all but gone, the once robust
standards program is gone... if people want the level of professional
support now that existed once in 'professional associations', they have to
hunt for it and build it on their own.

It's not about who provides a certification, its about practice and process
knowledge and training for those entering the profession. There is no base
set of knowledge there for them... and YES, it's DIFFERENT NOW... but the
core principles remain the same, irrespective of form or format of the
content, information, or whatever you want to call it.

IG is nothing but application of management of information practices at a
different level, with a broader spectrum of components, that didn't exist
in past processes... but ANYONE with a solid background in records
management that has remained engaged, and stayed current with how business
has evolved can provide this 'governance' expertise.
