I disagree to some extent. Without having attended the webinar, and without
seeing at least an outline, it's tough to say, but I suspect the thrust of
the webinar will be that retention is not just about compliance - it's also
about operational efficiency and about discovery. I could be mistaken, in
which case your comments would be absolutely correct. I do know that the
marketing message the last year or so has been less stick and more carrot -
"compliance" doesn't do nearly as much for CXOs as ROI, and records programs
can provide that if RIM professionals address it.
I would encourage everyone interested to attend the webinar - and then
provide your thoughts on what they said to the list. I will be teaching an
ERM workshop that day or I would do the same.

I received a card in the mail advertising a webinar from Mobius. The card
says "Managing Retention: It's Not Just About Records Anymore!". The
webinar is on March 16, 2006 @ 11:00AM Eastern Time. To register, go to

They are saying that "Enterprise content is growing as much as 200% a year
and the risk of mismanaging its retention and disposition are growing even
faster."
The point in making these comments is.....they really believe that because
the information is on a computer that it is not a record. How many times do
they need to be hit in the head with a baseball bat before they start to
realize what a record is? A computer is only a tool to manipulate
information.... information that makes up records.
There!!!! That is my soapbox for today.
