This question is especially for law firms but others should feel free to
respond also, since the answer could apply across a range of industries.

I'm curious what other firms say to incoming associates and staff about
filing. For example do you:
1. Say nothing and assume that they know what to file?
2. Rely on a mentoring system to show them how and what to file.
3. Give them definitions of what is and is not a record ? With examples?
4. Show them a filing memo form, possibly specific to their practice
area, where they can check off what type of document it is, and have
them send that with the records for filing.
5. Distribute written orientation materials that discuss filing
practices and standards.

We do 2, 4 and 5 at the moment, but we don't feel it's enough.
Any suggestions? Other practices?
