The thread on NFL records puts me in mind of a very recent story about one of the three recent presidents of the University of Tennessee sysem with whom we've had "adventures." (I work at the university.)

Former president John Shumaker has filed suit against the university and might be awarded as much as $1.7 million remaining on his contract. The news report says that he did not return a signed waiver letter required to receive his severance payment. (The severance is about $422,956; his salary was $735,000.) 

Letter, letter, who's got the letter? Well, apparently the university doesn't seem to have it. So, here's a document worth as much as $1.7 million. Are records worth anything? You bet they are!
