Good point, Pat. Google's server farm, for example, uses amounts of
energy comparable to the aluminum industry which used to be in our area:

On a positive note, Ms. Noveck appears to be engaging the right people
in the discussion. However, one participant makes a telling comment: We
haven't yet solved the problems of email.
One can criticize, for example, Ms. Noveck's comments regarding data
standardization as a solution to the cost of "storage" migration. But
are our solutions any more practical?
