Summary Description: This position is located in CSC’s Falls Church, Virginia
headquarters and reports to the Director of Global Records and Information
Management. Provides senior-level support of CSC’s records and information
management program. Analyzes business requirements and aligns information
technology solutions for records and information management initiatives. Acts
as a liaison between records and information management program and end
users.
• Directs, designs, develops, recommends, and implements manual and/or
automated records and information management systems.
• Creates, updates, and maintains company retention schedules.
• Conducts legal and end-user research necessary to determine global
retention requirements across multiple countries.
• Evaluates and recommends designation of records/information that are
considered vital to the organization.
• Designs, evaluates, reviews and recommends information systems that
provide a secure environment and controls for records and information.
• Writes procedures and provides training to departmental personnel.
• Acts as a team leader to other Records and Information Management
Analysts.
Essential Job Functions:
• Evaluates user needs based on inventory of records and interviews with
users.
• Reviews current business processes and plans, designs and recommends
improvements to processes to support business activities and ensure
compliance with records and information management requirements.
• Provides input into developing and modifying systems to meet end-user
needs while ensuring compliance with records and information management
requirements.
• Develops systems requirements for electronic repository of official CSC
records.
• Writes procedures and trains departmental personnel on systems.
• Prepares status reports on current projects.
• Analyzes department records, categorizes, and researches appropriate
retention values for each.
• Trains user departments in the policies and procedures of the Records and
Information Management program.
• Maintains legal references needed to support legal and regulatory retention
requirements.
• Works closely with department personnel to provide advice on retention and
management of information stored in all types of media, e.g., electronic,
optical, microfilm.
• Develops records systems and procedures to facilitate the orderly retention
and disposition of records.
• Maintains destruction register of approved records disposals.
• Works with individual departments in the following areas:
o Identification of vital records
o Recommendation of proper procedures/equipment for protection in the
office environment.
o Establishment of rotation procedures, both for in-house and offsite
storage
o Training users in disaster planning and recovery
• Establishes standards and provides guidance and training on imaging
systems and processes.
• Works closely with data processing functions to be sure that all electronic
information is properly protected.
• Assists in providing time estimates for project-related tasks.
• Assists with development of computer-based training for the Records and
Information Management program.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required, including specialized courses in records
management, business law, or computer technology
• Master’s degree in information sciences, records management or archival
studies preferred
• Minimum six years records and information management experience
• Thorough knowledge of retention guidelines and relevant records and
information management technology applications for records retention
• Experience working with business processes and re-engineering
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to interact with end users and
records and information management team members
• Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to convey technical
and program requirements in writing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong presentation and training skills
• Experience working with Enterprise Content Management solutions
• Ability to work in a team environment with multiple team members and
ability to multitask
• Willingness to travel
• Experience working in a large multinational company and/or a U.S.
government contractor preferred
Preferred Certifications
• Certified Records Manager
• ERM Specialist or ERM Master (AIIM)
• ECM Specialist or ECM Master (AIIM)
• Certified Associate in Project Management (PMI)
Principal Contacts: Frequent contact with all levels of management. Interfaces
with supervisors and other staff members for the purpose of exchanging
information regarding projects and to ensure consistency and proper
procedure implementation. External contacts include vendors and professional
organizations.
