History and WikiLeaks - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos
WIKILEAKS REMINDED me to wrap up any unfinished research on Rizal and
the late 19th century, to begin work on Ferdinand Marcos. With Rizal
the basic primary source material is available in 25 volumes of his
writings and scribbles. With Marcos the task is more challenging.

While he was president for only two decades, Marcos left a paper trail
bigger and longer than Rizal’s. There are newspapers, the Official
Gazzette, photos, audio and video. Primary source material, once in
Malacañang, was unfortunately dispersed or destroyed when a mob
stormed the Palace in 1986, creating a “major, major” challenge for
historians.
