The National Association of Government Archives and Records
Administrators (NAGARA) and Council of State Archivists (CoSA) will be
sponsoring a one-day workshop titled "An Introduction to Digital
Curation for Public Records Professionals" on Saturday, July 16, at the
Sheraton Downtown Hotel in Nashville. The registration fee for the
workshop is $75.

The workshop will be presented by: Dr. Helen R. Tibbo, Alumni
Distinguished Professor University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
School of Information and Library Science, and President, Society of
American Archivists; and Dr. Christopher "Cal" Lee, Associate Professor
at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Digital curation is a term that is widely used to describe the
management of and provision of access to digital materials throughout
their entire life cycle. Most of the training and literature related to
digital curation has focused on scholarly materials and large scientific
data sets, rather than public records. However, this workshop will
address the nature of digital materials, preservation considerations,
strategies for engaging with producers of content, access
considerations, and models for assessing various activities for public
records officials. More details about the workshop are available at
www.nagara.org <http://www.nagara.org> . (Scroll down to the middle of
the page for a link to the workshop flyer.)

also be holding a reception at the Belle Meade Plantation, a classic
Tennessee 19th century Antebellum home just outside Nashville.
