Donna, for quality control of scanned paper documents, get ANSI/AIIM MS44 "Recommended Practice for Quality Control of Image Scanners", ANSI/AIIM TR34 "Sampling Procedures for Inspection by Attributes of Images in Electronic Image Management (EIM) & Micrographics Systems", and ANSI-AIIM TR15 "Planning Considerations Addressing Preparation of Documents for Image Capture". All three are available from Techstreet (http://www.techstreet.com).

There are also quite a few documents on scanning published by AIIM (the Association for Information and Image Management, www.aiim.org). These documents are free for AIIM members.

You can also purchase " Digital Document Management" by William Saffady (ISBN: 978-1-931786-35-5) from the ARMA Bookstore (www.arma.org), ARMA catalogue number A4760 ($32).
