Good afternoon Listserv; I need your help regarding the good and bad of
SharePoint 2010 records management. My staff and I have spent a
significant amount of time looking at documentation regarding this
topic. However, for every article or Blog that discusses a deficiency,
a MS certified partner is quick to respond with a rebuttal. It is
extremely difficult to separate fact from fiction. For that reason, I
am seeking out my colleague's opinions.

Since the release of SP 2010, I continue to hear (and read) that the
out-of-box records management functionality is inadequate and that it is
necessary to acquire multiple add-ons in an attempt to bolster its
capabilities. In addition, I hear that it is not scalable for large
organizations; it requires a significant amount of customization and
that upgrades are a nightmare.

Obviously if these statements are true, they present major obstacles.
However, does anyone have experience with MS SP 2010 records management
that helps to specifically support the existence of these issues (or
other issues)?

Thanks

Blake E. Richardson, CRM
