From my experience, I am in the same camp as Glenn. It's the same as if it were a bldg or real estate or a warehouse.

Subject: Re: Software as a Record?

Eugene - I regard software as an asset, not a record. We keep records of its
purchase or development, and so on, but it's not in itself a record. We
dispose of the records related to an asset according to our retention rules
(usually seven years after the asset is sold or decommissioned, there are
variations and exceptions).

Cheers

Glenn

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked and
they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Harry Peck and Co and Glenn".
Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
