Q. What is the most interesting old record you have come across.

A. A simple, handwritten note by which Asa Walker informed William Gant that he was borrowing a gun and coat and taking them to Bexar--where he died on March 6, 1836 at the Alamo. It was among a number of other probate jackets available for unsupervised public inspection in the basement of a courthouse. When I found it I took it immediately to the County Clerk to be placed in the vault.
