Aloha Listserv Friends:
I know that the selection of Marcus Mariota for the Heisman trophy has little to do with Records & Information management, but I did want to congratulate him for reaffirming the virtues of working hard and being humble...
I hope each of you had (or will) listened to his acceptance speech, as Marcus epitomized everything a parent would want in their children. In Hawaii, we take pride in our "native sons" and they are all taught humility and respect. I don't think there were many "dry eyes" for those watching his acceptance, as he really made everyone "feel good" about his accomplishments and his acknowledgement of those who assisted him along the way...
Who knows how Mariota will do in the future, but for that one night, he conveyed a very positive message that resonated across the sports world...We need those types of "heroes" in the world. :-)
